For HTPC setups, having a good case, motherboard and a CPU cooler is important. Coolermaster made a pretty good impression with their CM Elite 130 mini-ITX case. Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI also has a pretty good layout as well. But with setups like Coolermaster Elite 130, you need clearance as the power supply is mounted just above the mini ITX motherboard.
Sure! You do get low profile CPU air coolers and even the stock Intel heatsink is very low profile. But we need better cooling for many reasons, even if it doesn’t include overclocking. Not everyone lives in a place with cool and comfortable climate. Closed case ambience would probably be high in this case.
Noctua NH-L9x65 CPU cooler is a taller version than the L9i that was reviewed a long time ago, but still maintains the low profile footprint for those who want something better to put in their mini PC and HTPC setups. With an excellent track record about CPU coolers so far, I am curious to know how good the performance is.
